After studying Accounting and Finance together at Strathclyde University in Glasgow, Scotland, the co-founders of Spot & Change - Gary and Jamie - took the logical next step and began training to become chartered accountants. We each joined large international auditing firms working on some major client accounts, which was a hugely beneficial learning curve for both of us. We realised fairly early on, however, that we were spending most of our very limited free time discussing our own business and creative ideas, in the hope that 'one day' we might be able to turn them into reality.
The seemingly endless days spent in audit meant that "one day” felt further and further away. We were working towards deadlines; chasing targets and not dreams; trudging a career path for which we soon realised we had no passion. So one day, we said "why can’t 'one day' be today?” And with that, we made the decision to put all of our efforts into what we loved and felt we did best, coming up with ideas that we think will make the world a more fun place to live in.
It’s obvious from many of our role models that working hard is a whole lot easier when you love what you do. We were confident that with our strong grounding in commerce from our “former lives”, our passion and dedication, we had the opportunity to create something awesome. We don’t think there has ever been a better time to be an entrepreneur, living in an era where technology enables all of us to do amazing things. To help make our idea something that you can hold in your hands today, we approached Locassa Ltd, an app developer in London, and after months of development, we are delighted to bring you Spot & Change. We know you are going to enjoy playing it and can’t wait to see your puzzles.
We have recently moved offices (well, moved from Gary’s bedroom) to The Whisky Bond (its a 5 minute drive away, but an infinitely longer commute). It's an old whisky distillery warehouse in Glasgow which we moved into a week before launching the app. Glasgow has a heritage steeped in innovation and industry and we would love to be a part of that story.
